PHILIPPINES-NOT PHILIPPIANS: A TALE OF A NATION AND A LETTER-by Dr Chukwudi Okebaram

Though their names sound alike, the Philippines and Philippians are entirely distinct. The Philippines is a living nation-an archipelago shaped by colonisation, faith, resilience, migration, and global engagement. It builds institutions, sends professionals worldwide, and rises after adversity. Philippians, however, is a New Testament letter written by the Apostle Paul to believers in ancient Philippi, preserved in Scripture and rich in themes of joy, humility, partnership, and spiritual citizenship. While the epistle teaches resilience from prison, the nation often embodies resilience through lived experience. Their names may rhyme, but one is geography and history; the other is theology and sacred text.

FROM MAKURDI BENUE STATE NIGERIA TO NUEVA ECIJA CABANATUAN CITY PHILIPPINES: A GROWING GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP ROOTED IN FAITH, SERVICE, AND ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

What began as a brief exchange between two leaders at the 72nd Anniversary of World Medical Relief in Detroit has grown into a dynamic, faith-anchored partnership spanning three continents. From Makurdi in Benue State, Nigeria, to Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija, Philippines, this collaboration reflects a shared commitment to ethical medical service, academic excellence, and community transformation. Rooted in practical faith and strengthened by scholarship, the relationship between Remnant Christian Network Medical Missions and Wesleyan University-Philippines demonstrates how education and service, when aligned, can multiply global impact.

COME OVER TO MACEDONIA AND HELP US! (ACTS 16:9)

A cry for help echoes from the heart of Benue State, North-Central Nigeria where poverty and terror have left scars on the land and its people. In Chito, a region ravaged by suffering, the sick languish without care, the wounded bear their pain in silence, and mothers weep over children who might not see another day.

Join us in this mission of mercy. Come over and help us!

“When I Was in Prison, You Visited Me” (Matthew 25:36) Behind cold iron bars, beyond the world’s forgotten walls, there are souls crying out not just for freedom, but for healing. In the prisons of Nigeria, countless men and women suffer in silence, battling untreated diseases, infections, and chronic conditions with no access to medical care. Their pain is unseen, their cries unheard, their hope dwindling.

Join us today. Visit Christ in prison through your giving!

If our gospel be hid… A Cry from Katungu, Gombe State "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost" (2 Corinthians 4:3). In the vast, underserved Katungu region of Gombe State, thousands suffer in silence—forgotten, neglected, and deprived of even the most basic healthcare. Here, mothers watch helplessly as their children succumb to preventable diseases, the elderly endure pain without relief, and young lives are cut short for lack of medical attention. The need is urgent, the suffering is real, and the call is clear.

A MIRACLE IN THE MARGINS: THE STORY OF FREE ANTENATAL CARE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN IN THE MEGA IDP CAMP, ORTOM ROAD MAKURDI

When you walk into the IDP Mega Camp in Makurdi at dawn, you are greeted by the quiet rustle of life children stirring, women lighting fires, men preparing for another day of survival. But beneath this routine lies a hidden struggle many do not see: the silent battle of pregnant mothers trying to bring new life into a world that has offered them very little stability.
